Improved Access for Title Searches
LEGISLATION PASSED IN OHIO TO PROVIDE TITLE COMPANIES BETTER ACCESS TO PUBLIC OFFICES.
Today Ohio legislature passed an amendment to HB 197 which requires that county offices that are necessary for conducting title searches and for transferring and recording real property interests, remain open to provide accesses to land title professionals while the Governor’s Stay-At-Home Order is in effect. While the legislation provides that such physical access may still have time and duration limitations and other restrictions in the interest of public health, it will improve the current ability to search all necessary land title records and it may reduce the amount of delay in placing deed transfers, mortgages and other documents of record. This bill will take effect upon signature of the Governor.
